Night Shift Registered Nurse - Med/Post Op Care Leader

Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is responsible for the general supervision and coordination of nursing personnel on shift, including weekends and holidays, to ensure quality and continuity of patient care. The RN utilizes the nursing process in patient assessments, care planning, and interventions, and collaborates with Physicians and other clinicians on patient care implementation. Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of the role. Education and Experience Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. License and Certification Active RN licensure required. BLS required. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc.) may be required depending on the assigned area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to observe, assess, and record work, safety and infection control standards. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility for 80%. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing task. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation. Location and Schedule Primary location: Baptist Medical Center East.
