Overland Park, United States | Posted on 06/17/2026 Job Description Sr. Engineering Technician (Overland Park, KS - Onsite) Multiple other locations: Ann Arbor, MI; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ Responsibilities Senior Engineering Technician will beresponsible to lead design teams that support the development of high ‑ quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. This position performs technical tasksrequiring advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices, witha focus on creating and modifying site development plans using advancedtechniques in industry ‑ standarddesign tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and BentleyOpenPlant Modeler. Functions as a senior engineeringtechnician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor Applies advanced technical expertise tosolve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline Contributes to the development ofinnovative engineering solutions Uses digital tools and design software(e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create,modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and projectdeliverables Provides consultation, training, andoversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency,and compliance with project standards Establishes and communicates appropriatedesign and graphic standards Reviews project requirements to determinecorrect formats and deliverable content Promotes quality and consistency acrossprojects, groups, and sections Reviews design inputs to ensure alignmentand consistency Ensures deliverables comply withapplicable codes and standards May contribute to continuous improvementof design guides, standards, and processes May participate and lead processimprovement and change management activities Manages drawing control and maintainshistorical project records Applies engineering principles andestablished design practices to complex designs Exercises sound judgment in interpretinginputs and making deliverable-related decisions Handles complex technical assignments andprovides guidance to other professionals Performs design calculations, materialquantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation May review deliverables produced by othersfor quality and accuracy May coordinate presentations, productiondesign, and use of electronic design tools May monitor production to ensureconsistency, budget, and schedule May program control systems or support plant start-up activities within area of expertise Coordinates with other design groups toexchange information for design development May support field activities as required Communicates project design requirements,progress, and schedules Responsible for assisting withidentification of key client interests and drivers and may determine thekey clients in some instances. Communicate client interests and drivers toproject team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicatingappropriate design standards and process improvement activities Identifies and supports training anddevelopment needs for supervised personnel Recognized for expertise in one or moreareas. May be assigned special assignments depending on technicalexpertise. Assignments may involve solving a particular design problem orparticipating in a design team focused on completing an assigned project task Makes presentations and conducts trainingclasses within a specialized area of expertise. Qualifications Typically a minimum of 11 years relatedwork experience. Associate Degree in Drafting or anEngineering Design Related Technology required.
