Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our team in Sanger, CA. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food according to established recipes and specifications, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring serving areas are properly set up and maintained. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, knowledge of food safety practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Location: Sanger, CA

Pay Rate: $19.00/hour

Responsibilities

• Set up and stock kitchen stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
• Prepare food items for service, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and assisting with meat preparation.
• Cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and established procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate meal preparation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
• Properly store and handle leftover food according to food safety guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with stocking supplies.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served with quality, consistency, and proper timing.
• Follow all nutrition, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety regulations.
• Comply with ServSafe and HACCP programs and principles.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude with team members and customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Culinary school training is a plus.
• Knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and food preparation procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment, including knives, ovens, grills, slicers, steamers, and other cooking equipment.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• ServSafe certification or State/City Food Handler Card preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and food products.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. Frequently and up to 50 lbs. As needed.
• May be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving equipment, extreme temperatures, and varying kitchen environments.
• Must follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, protective footwear, and other required safety gear.
