Operate ultrasound equipment to produce complex diagnostic scans to ensure optimal patient care. Evaluate and verify image quality according to established standards to ensure adherence to quality control protocol. Review and interpret intermediate and complex exams with attending physicians to determine if additional procedures are needed. Determine equipment needs for examinations to ensure the availability of required supplies. Maintain and perform troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment, informing supervisors as necessary to ensure maximum availability of operable equipment. Inspect, clean, and prepare exam rooms after each patient to maintain efficiency in patient flow. Complete and log billing reports to ensure the accuracy of patient charges. Identify ways to improve work processes and enhance customer satisfaction. Make recommendations to supervisors, implementing and monitoring results to support overall departmental goals. Participate in research studies regarding intermediate sonographic procedures with medical staff to improve information sharing. Maintain a positive working relationship and serve as a resource for physicians, other sonographers, students, and patients to ensure efficient patient information flow. Stay informed about applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the sonography area. Develop effective internal controls to promote adherence to applicable laws and accreditation program requirements. Seek guidance as necessary to ensure a proper understanding of all protocols and procedures.
