ADAS Design Release Engineer (DRE) for Front Camera Module

Job DescriptionThe Role We are looking for a high-performing Design Release Engineer who is responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for Active Safety Components where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved. The combination of these sensors provides near and far object detection enabling the implementation of many new safety features into the vehicle – Forward collision warning, collision mitigated braking, lane departure warning to name a few. Exercises technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a small group with specific engineering objectives. Consults with supervisor as required. ResponsibilitiesDRE for Front Camera / Perception Module including all elements of hardware and softwareCapable of organizing and driving design for manufacturing initiatives Develops component technical specifications as well as statement of requirements and subsystem technical specifications as required working in tandem with Technical SpecialistLeads formal design, peer, and quality reviewsLeads resolution of technical issues Leads/manages supplier resident engineers Supports sourcing activities Supports vehicle Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) activities.Primary GM engineering interface with the component suppliersEnsure all vehicle program imperatives (cost, timing, investment, and quality) are met Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development Performs complex design analysis Develops engineering designs (including subsystems) Implement engineering changes Plans and implements test and/or development programs Releases parts and subsystems for production including SW packages as neededRequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering degree program 5+ years of experience in a job-related area Prior experience in electrical/electronic component design/release a plus but not required for this assignment Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy and manufacturing methods engineering Understanding of product design and process interdependencies High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult Desired SkillsDFMEA training Electronic Validation Experience DFSS Certification Software Controls/wiring experience Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components Experience with Automated Driving sensors (Cameras, Lidars, Radars, Ultrasonic Sensors) a plus Knowledge of software development and systems as it pertains to engineering preferred Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering for DFM Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering Knowledge of Team Center Systems Engineering and/or Doors requirements management tools is a plus.
