PENDERGAST SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description JOB TITLE: Non CDL Driver EXEMPT: No GRADE: 109 LOCATION: Transportation TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9-Month REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation SUMMARY: The job of Non CDL Driver is responsible for operating school transportation vehicles which may include vans and small bus vehicles for student transportation providing safe transportation services to and from school, extra-curricular activities, and other special assignments for Pendergast School District students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED or equivalent Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid Arizona driver’s license Exemplary driving record with no more than 6 points in the past 24 months or repeated violations in the past 10 years. 36 month driving record must be obtained from the Motor Vehicle Department annually Must obtain and maintain CPR and first-aid certification Must pass ADOT physical examination and drug screening Must be in good physical health Ability to work an alternate schedule when needed Knowledge of Metro Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale and Peoria Must complete van driver training class with the exception of completion of the CDL Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Job related experience Such alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptable ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains punctual and regular attendance for the purpose of ensuring the necessary personnel to transport students Transports students to and from school, extracurricular activities and special assignments following established routes for the purpose of students arriving safely Performs daily pre- and post-trip inspections; check fluid levels and condition of vehicle before, during and after every run for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staff Observe all mandatory safety regulations published by District policy Monitor and maintain student discipline; submit written referrals when appropriate Administer first-aid when necessary for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staff Assists special education bus attendants for the purpose of providing for special needs of students during transport, safe ingress (entering) and egress (exiting), including emergency situations and normal transport Able to react professionally and responsibly in an emergency for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staff Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicle Fuels assigned vehicles for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition Prepares reports (e.g. transportation log, inspection log, inspection sheets, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established state and/or District requirements Submit to random periodic and post-accident drug/alcohol testing for the purpose of ensuring the safety of students and staff Participate in department meetings and training for the purpose of staff development Report all citations and accidents, complete required forms for the purpose of keeping accurate documentation Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents and school issues Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee ABILITIES: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Demonstrates successful teamwork and collaboration skills Demonstrates strong communication skills, writing competency, effective listening and presentation skills Self-motivated, highly organized and detail-oriented Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, parents, students and external organizations, representing diverse populations Professional demeanor with strong ethical standards and ability to adapt to change Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment on multiple projects simultaneously, both as a team member and individually EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administration and the community. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
