Position Overview Title: Instructor or Assistant Professor, Nurse Education – Department: Nurse Education. This full‑time faculty position at Del Mar College requires teaching contact hours and meeting fundamental responsibilities as outlined in college policy. Salary minimum: $61,525 per nine months. Description Del Mar College is seeking innovative, adaptive, and engaging educators who can teach across modalities and lead meaningful service initiatives. The role focuses on teaching required contact hours/lecture equivalents per semester, which may include online courses and/or dual‑credit/early‑college classes. Faculty will work with students of diverse backgrounds, maintain professional standards, and foster professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Responsibilities Teach nursing courses, including clinical supervision for 10–15 students in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing requirements. Deliver 18 contact hours per regular semester, which may include theory/labs, online or hybrid courses, and clinical work. Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline; adapt teaching methods and materials for students from varying educational and experiential backgrounds; maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Evaluate students to measure progress toward stated course outcomes; review, recommend, and use effective student learning materials. Provide students with a written syllabus that follows the College's Course Syllabus Guidelines; maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning. Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily; be available for and encourage conferences with students to aid understanding and improvement. Assist in academic advising of declared majors; support marketing, recruitment, and program promotion efforts. Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes; implement action plans to improve programs and ensure compliance with professional standards and accreditation requirements. Participate in the self‑evaluation process; establish personal and professional development goals, and maintain competency through ongoing professional development activities. Serve on committees; accept special assignments; participate in institutional events such as convocation, graduation ceremonies, department, divisional, and College meetings; support activities required to maintain accreditation and contribute to the College planning process. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Plan course instruction based on approved syllabi and outlines to ensure objectives are met. Utilize diverse teaching styles and methods to accommodate students’ learning preferences. Teach and communicate effectively with students from multicultural backgrounds. Apply teaching strategies that enhance student success; possess knowledge of learning colleges or learning communities. Use instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other media, to support instruction. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Nursing. Three years of clinical work experience. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas (certification required). Current CPR/BLS certification for healthcare providers (certification required). Current negative TB test and required immunizations; documentation must be provided prior to the first day of employment.
