The Medical Assistant clinical duties such as answering phones, discussing symptoms and gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. Collaborates closely with Physicians and Nurses. Delivers direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions are typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction. Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.

Required Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Certification from the AAMA, NHA or AMA, or a 4 year college degree
• (Required) 2- 3 years of Medical Assistant experience in 'back-office' direct patient care or a 4 year degree from a college
• Applicable State licensure in field of study (RMA/ CMA)
• Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
• Basic Computer knowledge
• Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Experience with HEDIS

Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):

Taking medical histories
Explaining treatment procedures to patients
Preparing patients for examinations
Assisting the physician during examinations
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
Performing basic laboratory tests
Instructing patients about medication and special diets
Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
Transmitting prescription refills as directed
Phlebotomy
Taking electrocardiograms
Wound care and changing dressings

Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):

Using computer applications (Required)
Answering telephones (Required)
Welcoming patients (Required)
Updating and filing patient medical records (Required)
Coding and filling out insurance forms
Scheduling appointments (Required)
Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
