Job SummaryThe Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, invites applications for a full-time (12 month) Clinical-track or Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Neurology/Neurosurgery. The successful candidate will become part of an established neurology/neurosurgery program and will join two current board-certified faculty members, two to three residents, potentially one specialty intern and two neurology technicians. Equipment available on-site includes 1.5T MRI, a 64-slice CT scanner, a BrainSight neuro-navigation system, a Vitom exoscope, Cadwell electrodiagnostic equipment, and a rehabilitation suite with in-ground swimming pool, underwater treadmill, therapy LASER, therapy ultrasound, electrical stimulation equipment and dedicated acupuncture space.QualificationsQualifications for the position include a DVM or equivalent degree, and completion of a neurology residency program registered by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN), or board certification by the ACVIM or ECVN. This position does not require Educational Commission Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification or Indiana veterinary licensure.Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A background check is required for employment by the University.General InformationThe Purdue Veterinary Hospital recently completed a major expansion project. The new David and Bonnie Brunner Purdue Veterinary Medical Hospital Complex added 65,000 square feet to the existing small animal hospital facilities. There is a suite of rooms dedicated to the neurology service, including a dedicated electrophysiology space, and two ORs dedicated to neurosurgery. The new complex provides state of the art teaching facilities dedicated to educating the next generation of veterinary professionals, enabling faculty to provide top quality compassionate animal health care, and serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary clinical research.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will actively participate in the discovery, learning and engagement missions of the PVM and the VCS department. Important activities include: Discovery: All faculty are expected to collaborate on clinical research projects. Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop an independent research program. The PVM is situated on the Purdue campus, allowing for a wide array of research opportunities. There is a clinical trials team to help facilitate clinical research, and a departmental research laboratory to support VCS faculty benchtop research. Clinical Service: Providing clinical service to patients of the Purdue Veterinary Hospital (typical time commitment: 30-50% Tenure-track and 60-70% Clinical-track); supervising veterinary students, veterinary technician students, and house officers; and building strong relationships with referring veterinarians. After hours support of residents on-call is shared with other faculty. Learning: Clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, veterinary nursing students, house officers, and graduate students.
