Position Summary & Highlights:

As a Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Clerk, you’ll be asked to ....

• Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. 
• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, etc.
• Keep inventory of shipping materials and supplies maintained, and keep records of all materials and equipment that enter or leave the facility. 
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record and report shortages and discrepancies, and correspond with shippers to rectify damages and shortages. 
• Receive and process defective items returned for replacement or credit. 
• Route checked incoming materials, supplies, or equipment to the stockroom, appropriate departments, or other areas. 
• Prepare products or materials for shipment. 
• Assemble shipping containers or select pre-assembled containers, and insert items to be shipped into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. 
• Recommend method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. 
• Prepare bills of lading and maintain documentation of goods shipped. 
• Perform computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.

• Operate a tier-lift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage or work areas. 
• Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. 
• Perform only shipping or receiving activities, receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment, or receive unsold products returned and be designated accordingly.
