Department: Department of Homeland Security This vacancy is for a GS-1035-9, Public Affairs Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), Athletics Division, located in New London, CT Key Responsibilities You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist and be responsible for delivering information services required to support the athletic programs and training objectives of the Academy. They are expected to be articulate and advocate on behalf of the sports program. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing the livestream production and distribution for all home athletic competitions, including coordination of personnel, equipment, schedules, and platform requirements. Serving as the primary manager and content creator of the official Athletic Division website. Overseeing official Athletic Division social media accounts. Compiling and submits statistics to the National Collegiate Athletic Association for all sports. Serving as the information contact for news media, other college Sports Information Directors, and the public at large. Coordinating with all members of the coaching staff the proper procedure for reporting results in any event which takes place away from the Academy. Preparing/writing all digital and printed media guides, single sport brochures, and programs, providing copy material, editing, and coordinating the publication and distribution of the finished programs. Requirements & Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. College Transcript: If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned.
