ALTERNATIVE PATHWAY FOR PART-TIME/EXEMPT EMPLOYEES (Revised 05-01-26)

Job Title

The City of Los Angeles is offering a new opportunity for current part-time and exempt employees to obtain regular, full-time employment.

Duties

The Alternative Pathway for Part-Time/Exempt Employees creates an opportunity for current part-time and exempt City employees to obtain regular, full-time employment with the City of Los Angeles. The program is divided into two phases: 6-12 months of on-the-job training (Trainee phase), followed by a 6-month probationary period (Assistant phase). After successful completion of the probation period, the individual will then transition into the targeted civil service classification.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible, applicants must:

1. Be currently employed with the City of Los Angeles and have employment that began on or before June 30, 2025.
2. Have 2,080 continuous work hours in a position that performs duties related to one of the targeted civil service classifications.

Applicants who are not employed in one of the targeted classifications must submit a Verification of Work Experience (VWE) form with the required signatures, verifying their experience in a part-time and/or exempt position performing duties related to the specific pathway for which they are applying.
