Die Cast/ Equipment Technician Trainee

The Die Cast/ Equipment Technician Trainee is part of the Maintenance team. This role will work alongside an experienced Die Cast/Equipment Technician to learn how to repair and maintain all equipment in the Assembly, Heavy Duty or Controls tooling area. Will learn how to assist cell leaders when set-ups or problems occur. In addition to assigned job functions, must follow department policies & procedures and all Company safety procedures and practices.

Essential Functions:

• Training on how to maintains die cast machines and other department equipment
• Learns how to assist cell leaders with set-ups and retrieving parts
• Performs duties in the safest and most efficient manner possible
• Responsible for the safe operation of company equipment
• Works respectfully with other team members
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned

Korn Ferry Competencies:

• General familiarity with department equipment
• Ability to read and follow instructions & guidelines in documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Able to follow direction given by senior employees in training process
• Good listening skills
• Mechanically inclined
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Ability to problem solve

Required education and experience:

• High school diploma or GED or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Prior experience working with manufacturing machinery
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred education and experience:

• Technical School training

Special Position Requirements:

Working near moving mechanical parts, fumes, and/or airborne particles can be expected frequently. Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and adverse weather can be expected occasionally.

Physical Demands/ Equipment used to perform the job:

Manual labor job in a manufacturing environment. Temperature fluctuations on production floor. Must be able to lift/carry heavy objects up to 100 pounds. Standing for long periods of time; climbing, walking. Hand dexterity. Ability to operate departmental equipment.
