Job Title: Cardiac Specialty Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric CVOR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: - Perioperative nursing experience required - Cardiac surgery experience strongly preferred - Pediatric experience required License: - Active RN license in good standing Certifications: - AHA BLS required - AHA PALS required Must-Have: - Cerner experience - Ability to participate in alternating call rotation Description: The Cardiac Specialty Registered Nurse provides perioperative nursing care for pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures. The RN prepares and manages the operating room, supports cardiac surgical procedures, and maintains sterile technique and patient safety standards. The RN collaborates with cardiac surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and the multidisciplinary surgical team. Responsibilities include performing scrub and/or circulating duties for complex cardiac procedures. The RN prepares the operating room and ensures cardiac instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies are available. The RN supports procedures involving cardiopulmonary bypass and coordinates with perfusion. Maintaining sterile technique, surgical counts, time-outs, and accurate documentation is essential. The RN anticipates intraoperative needs and responds appropriately during complex or emergent cases. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, surgical technologists, and nursing staff is required. The RN supports quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives. Immediate fill is necessary to prevent disruption to scheduled cardiac surgeries. Confirmation of cardiac OR experience, current certifications, and full availability is required.
