Instructional Assistant Starting Date: Aug 13, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $2,885.12 to $3,912.83 per month Reports to: Principal Qualifications Minimum education requirement: Associate’s Degree or equivalent; Experience working in an educational environment (substitute teaching, tutoring, etc.) Job Description The classroom teacher assistant is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a certified teacher. The teacher assistant is primarily responsible for implementing small group instruction as directed and planned by the classroom teacher. These services include providing reinforcement of lessons presented by the assigned classroom teacher (in small group or 1:1 instruction) or supervising students during learning activities, cafeteria visits, and/or recess. In situations where the assistant facilitates students in a lab or classroom setting where students are not receiving direct instruction from a face‑to‑face teacher, the primary function is to supervise and support completion of classwork, problem‑solve situations as they arise, and maintain order. The teacher assistant does not design instruction or assessment plans, but may be consulted by the classroom teacher for feedback to monitor student progress. In the exceptional children’s program, the assistant works with students with special needs, adapting information and tasks to their learning style and IEP goals. For students with severe disabilities, the assistant may help meet basic needs such as transitions, eating, or personal hygiene. In secondary education, the assistant supports students in life‑skill learning necessary for post‑graduation independence. Responsibilities Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one‑on‑one or in small groups; Enforce school and class rules to promote proper behavior; Help teachers with record‑keeping, such as tracking attendance and calculating grades; Help teachers prepare for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment (e.g., computers); Help supervise students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess, and on field trips; Participate in in‑service programs as assigned; Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures; Participate with all other educational professionals to include teachers, related service personnel, and administrators in service of students; Observe confidentiality and safeguard all student‑related information; Report to the supervising teacher about student incidents, variances, or complaints. #J-18808-Ljbffr
