Rising 1st and Rising 2nd grade teacher

Peace Valley Charter School is seeking a R ising 1st Grade Teacher and a Rising 2nd Grade Teacher to join our growing Waldorf community in Boise, Idaho.

Both classes have been lovingly guided by experienced Waldorf teachers and are supported by strong parent involvement, established classroom rhythms, and a dedicated support team. We are looking for teachers who value whole-child education, artistic teaching, meaningful relationships, and bringing learning to life through imagination, movement, storytelling, and hands-on experiences.

At Peace Valley, you will not be working alone. We believe deeply in collaboration, mentorship, and supporting teachers so they can thrive in the classroom . Our school works closely with Kim John Payne for the past 3 years and continues to develop strong school-wide behavioral and tiered support systems rooted in connection, regulation, and child development.

Our leadership team is deeply committed to Waldorf education. Our director holds a Master’s degree in Waldorf Education, and our faculty works passionately each day to bring Waldorf principles into a public charter school setting. We are also in the final stages of earning Cognia accreditation and continue to grow as a mission-driven school community.

About Peace Valley Charter School

Peace Valley Charter School is a public, tuition-free K–8 school located in Boise, Idaho. Founded in 2018, we are currently in our 8th year and joyfully moving into  Year 9 in the 2026–27 school year . As the first Waldorf charter school in Treasure Valley Idaho, we are proud to serve families who seek a whole-child education within a public school setting.

Our school is  small, caring, and deeply relational . We value strong teacher–student relationships, close collaboration among colleagues, and an engaged parent community that actively supports school life.

Peace Valley is led by a director who brings both  deep classroom experience and pedagogical leadership . She taught as a Waldorf class teacher for eight years before stepping into administration and holds a  Master’s degree in Waldorf Education . Under her leadership, the school is intentionally working to  balance Idaho state requirements and academic rigor with authentic Waldorf pedagogy , supporting teachers in doing meaningful, developmentally appropriate work.

Our Educational Approach

Peace Valley is guided by Waldorf principles while meeting Idaho Content Standards. Our curriculum integrates  arts, movement, music, storytelling, and nature-based learning to support students’ intellectual, emotional, and social development.

General Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop curriculum collaboratively, integrating arts, movement, nature, and Idaho Content Standards
• Facilitate cross-curricular instruction
• Assess and document student learning and development
• Communicate regularly and thoughtfully with families
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and evaluation processes
• Supervise students throughout the school day
• Maintain a nurturing, peaceful, safe, and positive learning environment

Qualifications

• Valid Idaho State Teaching Certificate  or the ability to become certified through the Idaho State Department of Education
• Waldorf teacher trained or willingness to complete Waldorf teacher training if not already certified through a recognized Waldorf training program
• Interest in becoming  dually certified (Idaho credential + Waldorf training)
• Additional skills or interests in drawing, painting, singing, movement, handwork, drama, or music are highly valued
