Job Title and Location Adjunct Faculty – Political Science, University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), San Diego, CA Job Overview UMGC seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in the Political Science program. Responsibilities Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys genuine enthusiasm for learning. Guide students in active collaboration and application of learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations. Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, using rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work and acknowledging accomplishments. Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program. Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements. Qualifications Masters degree in Political Science or related field from an accredited institution. Professional experience in Political Science, application of political theory, American government, international relations, or related field. Prior teaching experience required. Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in homeland security, counterterrorism, or related topics. Professional experience in domestic governmental operations, administrative policy, or related topics. Salary Salary commensurate with experience; hourly rates range from $806 to $1,645 per credit hour depending on rank and degree level. Benefits Health coverage: medical, vision, dental, prescription plans for individuals and families. Adjuncts are not eligible for state subsidized rates.
