Job Title: Patient Care Technician

Provides patient care services to individuals with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders within an interdisciplinary team model. Interventions include physical and psychosocial activities. Assists with monitoring of the milieu for safety and security. Assists patients with ADL care. Performs monitoring of vital signs and assists with collection of specimens. Assists with maintenance of unit equipment and supplies. Helps patients with keeping their bed/room and belongings in order. Engages in therapeutic activities with patients and assists therapists with their programming. Works under the direction of the nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with data gathering and with elements of patient care. Organizes work based on unit needs and available resources.
• Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures and protocols.
• Communicates effectively with nurses, peers, interdisciplinary team and the patient/family to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Contributes to the continuity of patient care under the direction of the nurse.
• Demonstrates self-development and accountability for job responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• High School diploma, or its equivalent required.
• Has a current CNA or in nursing school having completed fundamental skills clinical experience.
• Previous work as a CNA, PCA or MHT preferred.
• Basic Life Support Required upon hire.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification as a CNA is required
• Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
