Winter Nurse Residency Position
Texas Oncology is offering a unique opportunity for recent Registered Nursing graduates seeking a full-time, Winter Nurse Residency position. The residency cohort will begin in January 2027 in the Dallas-Fort Worth regional area.
The residency program is 10 weeks in length and includes both didactic and clinical components. The first 2 weeks of the program (didactic component) will be hosted in Dallas with all expenses covered by Texas Oncology; the remaining 8 weeks of the program (clinical component) will be based at designated site in the Dallas-Fort Worth regional area.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30-5:00pm with weekend and major holidays off. Upon successful completion of the residency program, residents have the option of transferring to a site within one of our other geographic regions, if desired (based on position availability).
The ideal candidate will be an upcoming or recent graduate from an accredited BSN program and be a licensed RN in the state of Texas prior to the completion of the residency program.

Under general supervision, Registered Nurse Residents provide professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations; must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participate in company-wide quality initiatives; support and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices
- Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician
- Maintains safe work environment and follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care, and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients
- Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart
- Interprofessional collaboration by acting as a resource to LPN/LVNs and Medical Assistants
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in continuing education opportunities
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing within three years prior to January 11, 2027 is required (BSN preferred)
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac and Life Support) certification is required upon hire for onboarding
- Registered Nurse (RN) State license with the Texas State Board of Nursing is required by end of residency program to be eligible to be hired into a permanent position
- Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer (preferred)
