The AHFH Merchandising & Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing purchased inventory across all Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations. This role serves as the primary administrator for purchased merchandise inventory, overseeing item setup, SKU creation, purchase order processing, receiving records, inventory reporting, inventory transfers, inventory adjustments and merchandising execution.

Reporting to the Director of Retail Strategy, the Merchandising and Inventory Specialist executes approved purchasing plans while ensuring inventory accuracy, effective merchandise presentation and efficient product movement across stores. This role combines administrative responsibilities with hands-on merchandising responsibilities and serves as a key contributor to sales growth, inventory management and operational consistency.

The Merchandising & Inventory Specialist will manage inventory transfers, make inventory adjustments and implement merchandising strategies designed to maximize inventory turnover and sales performance under the direction of the Director of Retail Strategy.

This role works closely with the Marketing team to identify, promote, and merchandise featured products, ensuring marketing campaigns, social media content and in-store promotions are supported by strong product presentation and inventory availability.

This position is primarily based at the Ben White ReStore, located at 500 W Ben White Blvd, Austin TX 78704. The ability to travel weekly between AHFH locations on a regular basis is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education Requirements

2-4 years of experience in retail merchandising, inventory management, purchasing administration, retail operations, or a related field. Experience working with inventory management systems and point-of-sale software. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze inventory data and identify opportunities for improvement. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple locations. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools. Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation (frequent local travel required).

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

Experience in home improvement, hardware, building materials, tools, appliances, or related retail environments. Experience in big-box retail, home goods, thrift, resale, warehouse, or inventory-intensive operations. Familiarity with purchase order management, inventory controls, SKU administration, and inventory reporting. Experience executing merchandising plans, store resets, and product placement strategies. Interest in nonprofit or mission-driven retail organizations
