Role Description The High School Science Teacher is a full‑time, certified science teacher on‑site role located in Chicago, IL at the Academy of Scholastic Achievement. This educator plans and delivers rigorous, standards‑aligned science instruction in areas such as Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science, using engaging lessons that support college readiness for all students. Daily responsibilities include designing and implementing lesson plans, developing and refining curriculum, assessing student learning, and providing ongoing feedback and academic support. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, participates in professional development, and contributes to a positive school culture that promotes high expectations and equitable outcomes. The role also involves communicating regularly with students, families, and staff to support student progress, and maintaining accurate records aligned with school and state requirements. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong instructional planning skills, including Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development. Candidates should possess subject matter expertise in high school‑level sciences. Candidates should possess effective communication skills for working with students, families, and colleagues. Relevant skills such as classroom management, data‑informed instruction, and differentiated support for diverse learners (including students with IEPs and English Language Learners) are highly beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in education, Science, or a related field; appropriate state teaching certification or licensure in Secondary Science.
