Job Summary and Qualifications

• Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to carry out the normal functions of laboratory clinical areas.
• Make decisions and establish priorities on procedure-oriented operations. Work in an independent manner with limited supervision.
• Demonstrate initial and annual competency in designated lab sections, including phlebotomy as needed.
• Prioritize work to ensure completion within the assigned shift and within expected intervals ,e.g. Stat, Routine, and timed specimens.
• Maintain constructive, open communication with other supervisors, co-workers and customers, both internal and external. Demonstrate awareness of patient/client expectation and seek to satisfy.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all laboratory computer related tasks, including: email, corrected reports, correct documentation, faxing, add-on tests and cancellations, creating and receiving site batches and all functions of the LIS (Laboratory Information System).
• Perform and document instrument maintenance. Perform quality control according to established procedures. Troubleshoot instruments effectively.
• Possess an understanding of and ability to participate in Laboratory initiatives to include Quality Assurance, Safety Plans/Policies, Billing Compliance, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA requirements as they relate to the position, the laboratory department, and the facility. Education &Qualifications:

• Required: Bachelors degree from an accredited program of Clinical Laboratory Science. ASCP eligible certification or equivalent.
• Preferred: ASCP certified
