Paraprofessional (Hooks) (SY26-27)The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. More information about CPS can be found on our website at ResponsibilitiesAssists, supports, and works closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational support for Special Education classrooms.Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by licensed staff.Assists the teacher in special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.Monitors work, supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work, as assigned by the staff.Assists in classroom and instructional duties as assigned by the teacher.Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties.Qualifications RequiredExperience working with studentsMinimum of 48 college credits or ParaPro TestCitizenship, residency or work visa requiredQualifications PreferredExperience in a classroom setting working with students with disabilitiesBilingual SpanishAssociate's degree, at minimumParaprofessionals are members of the Chelsea Teachers Union (CTU). The length of the school day is 6.5 hours, but subject to longer hours for schools with extended day. The number of school days are 184 days.
