Addiction Medicine Physician or Nurse Practitioner

Description Spero Health is seeking an Addiction Medicine Physician or Nurse Practitioner to join our teams in Barbourville, KY and Williamsburg, KY. The position is full-time, on-site, and will cover both locations. Responsibilities Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance‑related health conditions. Complete thorough documentation to support professional billing for services. Educate patients and families regarding illness, prognosis, and care goals, and develop comprehensive care plans. Interpret lab and test results and provide feedback to patients. Counsel patients on medication compliance. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide integrated medical and behavioral health services. Conduct patient follow‑up visits to assess medication and treatment progress. Communicate with patient’s PCP and specialists when necessary. Evaluate lab results and consult with APPs on abnormal findings. Review and adjust progress and treatment plans as needed. Maintain required licensure, certifications, and CME credits. Qualifications Active, unrestricted medical license as a physician or nurse practitioner in the applicable state. Experience providing addiction medicine services to medically and socially complex populations. Experience managing complex substance use disorders. Ability to build relationships with network and community physicians and other providers. Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in applicable state(s). Ability to work on‑site with diverse care teams in various settings. Effective time management and communication skills. Computer literacy and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
