To ensure Tesla’s overall mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy, the Tesla Energy team is bringing our world leading battery technology to the grid. Tesla is leveraging its breakthrough firmware, electronics, testing and manufacturing capability to develop and deploy grid connected energy storage system at residential, industrial, and utility levels. Tesla compliance engineering team is looking for experienced engineer(s) who is passionate about product safety and reliability to drive the world’s transition to a sustainable future. We emphasize collaboration in our work, and always encourage each other to have fun while we are changing the world together. The engineer(s) will perform the testing and global certifications on renewable energy and electrical vehicle charging products. These products incorporate solar, battery and energy management technologies to meet national and international standards of ASNI, UL, IEEE, IEC, EN, KN, JIS, GB, and CSA. In this role you will work with nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTL) and our product design teams to get our hi-tech product(s) access pass to the global markets, which may include but not limited to the regulatory product architecture/design, developing validation plans, compliance roadmap scheduling, in-house compliance testing, debug/RCA, data analysis, and preparing regulatory documentations, etc. In addition, you will participate in trade groups and technical standards committees to drive legislation. What You'll Do Regulatory product architecture and designSupport the research of new market entry requirementsReview of products, specifications, and test plansDeveloping test criteria, methodologies and pass/fail criteriaSupport product registrations and permitting applicationsDebug/RCA non-conformities of productsWork with NRTLs to achieve product compliance certificatesConvert problem statements to specification requirementsCompliance validation & data analysis which may include high power grid-connected batteries, EV chargers and solar productsPerform product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing What You'll Bring Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, preferred major in Power Electronics or equivalent experienceMore than 2 years’ experience in product regulatory and compliance roleExperienced in renewable energy products/standards and power electronicsUnderstanding the EU CE requirements, North American Listings and APAC regulationsCompliance / certification experience per ANSI/CAN/UL/IEEE and IEC/EN/ISO standardsDemonstrated experience of taking products through the certification processAbility to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various product safety standardsGood understanding of product standards (IEC/UL/CSA, 62368-1, UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 2252, UL 2251, UL 9741, UL 2750, and UL 2231-x)Knowledge in California/National Type Evaluation Program (CTEP / NTEP), Payment Systems, & MeteringKnowledge in electrical equipment evaluation (FEBs NFPA 790/791), NFPA 70, UL 508, SPE-1000, and NEC/CEC requirements Benefits
