Opportunity Overview
Our organization is looking to recruit a board-certified or board-eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist or a Family Medicine Obstetrician to become part of our dedicated team in the picturesque town of Jackson, CA.
OBGYN ROLE:The Obstetrics and Gynecology department offers an exciting chance for a qualified obstetrician-gynecologist to join a nurturing, community-oriented practice nestled in the beautiful Sierra Foothills. This position is primarily focused on obstetrics, catering to an underserved patient demographic. The practice operates out of a 53-bed rural hospital with limited subspecialty support—there is no NICU, Urology, or Maternal-Fetal Medicine available on-site, although referral options exist at nearby tertiary care facilities. The hospital is renowned for its exceptional labor and delivery nursing team and has received excellent patient feedback for its compassionate, high-quality care.
On average, the practice handles 20–25 deliveries each month , characterized by low acuity and a strong collaborative team atmosphere. There are opportunities for those interested in expanding the gynecologic surgery program as well. Physicians will have access to robotic-assisted surgical technology , enhancing their surgical capabilities in a rural environment. Furthermore, there are chances to engage in graduate medical education by mentoring both OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents participating in a rural residency track. This role is perfect for those who are passionate about mentoring and influencing the next generation of medical professionals.
The proposed on-call schedule is as follows:
Weekday call : Tuesday to Thursday, two weeks each month (totaling 6 weekdays)
Weekend call : Friday to Monday, one weekend per month (totaling 4 weekend days)
This results in a total of 10 call days per month , reflecting a 1:3 call ratio .
Additionally, physicians are expected to rotate at the Sutter Medical Center Sacramento for 1–2 days each month to maintain their clinical skills.
This location offers a harmonious blend of tranquil rural living while being conveniently close to urban amenities, just one hour from Sacramento.
FMOB ROLE:The Family Medicine Obstetrics department provides an exciting opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible family medicine obstetrician to join a supportive, community-driven practice in the scenic Sierra Foothills. This role combines both obstetrics and family medicine, serving an underserved patient population. The hospital is recognized for its exceptional labor and delivery nursing staff and has received outstanding patient feedback for its compassionate, high-quality care.
The practice averages 15-20 deliveries per month , characterized by low acuity and a strong collaborative team environment. There are opportunities for a full spectrum of family medicine practice, including pediatrics and procedures in addition to obstetrics. Moreover, there are chances to engage in graduate medical education by mentoring both OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents in a rural residency track. This role is ideal for those who enjoy mentoring and shaping the future of healthcare.
