Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned. A weldermust understand welding procedures andparameters. Cancomprehendand utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical.Manuals,gouge,and work process instruction. Welds steel plates andpipesin the repair and/or construction of marine vessels, industrial components,and associated equipment. Have the skills to usevarious typesof welding equipment fordifferent typesof metal. Welds components in a flat, vertical, or overheadposition. Performs related tasks such as cutting and grinding. Repairs broken or cracked parts,fillsholes, and increasesthe sizeof metal parts. Weldsmetal parts together using gas welding,brazing,arcwelding, wire fedwelding, or tigwelding process and procedures. Highly skilled weldersoften aretrained to work with a wide variety of materials, such as titanium, aluminum,or exotic metals, in addition to steel. Select and set up welding equipment, execute the planned welds, and examine the welds to ensure that they meet standards or specifications. Required Education & Experience: High School Diploma,some collegeor technical school certification,six months to oneyear(s)experienceor equivalent combination of education and experience.
