We have a beautiful Chris Kostow designed kitchen cooking for the engineer, chemist, scientist and executive teams of an up and coming biotech company in the heart of Silicon Valley. Sure, this is corporate cooking at it's core but we work directly for the company, not a third party. Expectations from executives are high and everything from croissants, sauce work, sourdough variations, pasta, and pitas are made from scratch. Breakfast and lunch daily for roughly 70-80, you can expect a schedule of 6am-3:30pm M-F, weekends off, and holidays paid. We do have a few special events annually such as 2 board meetings, 3-4 community engagements, & a holiday party that require extra hours but they are always OT and sometimes 2X pay. The Kitchen is well equipped: Double suite Molteni range with wok, Rational ovens, blast chiller/deep freezer, Jade ranges, pasta extruder, outdoor wood burning oven & grill, and just about every smallware under the sun including grain mills to pasta sheeters to molds galore. There is not much else you could ask for. We are a team of and looking for restaurant professionals with drive and passion, maybe a little crispy around the edges, but not burnt out. Our mission is to emulate the precision and exploration of the labs upstairs: always driving forward, not afraid to fail and learning from our mistakes. This position operates with two additional cooks on the hotline with support of the director of dining and sous chef and the 3 item menu changes weekly. We'd prefer the candidate to bring their own ideas but we have developed a thick binder over the years of items we know work while you get settled. Being a small team with high expectations, the team moves where the work is so you will never be hung out to dry. We all get involved if one of our porters calls out or if someone has a heavy prep day. This is a rare gig, working in a dynamic restaurant quality environment while enjoying a corporate schedule.
