The Mechanical Technician II position involves the assembly and installation of a low volume, high technology, high variation product mix, produced in a project driven build-to-order production working environment.Key Responsibilities:Fasten components or parts together, using hand tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and welding equipment.Positions and aligns components for assembly, manually or utilizing various material handling tools and equipment.Analyze assembly blueprints, schematics and specification manuals, and assists with assembly, wiring and/or machine building operations.Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies.Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to specifications.Inspect and test parts and accessories for leakage, defects, or functionality, using electronic, optical and mechanical test equipment.Set and verify clearance of parts.Set-up and installation of large bearings and slewing ringsVerify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, indicators, spinning lasers and laser trackers.Lay-out, drill, ream, tap and cut parts for assembly.Remove rough spots and finish surfaces to fit.Clean parts or components using hand tools and power tools.Perform Preventative Maintenance per instructions and update checklists.Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.Fabrication of panels and structures, requiring material cutting, clamping, gluing, lifting and painting.Work with little or no direct supervision in field installation scenarios.Creative approach to problem solving and ability to exercise good judgement.Minimum Qualifications:5 years minimum of machine building/assembly experience or a combination of applicable course work and job experienceHigh School diploma or GEDAdvanced mechanical troubleshooting and basic electrical troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of system level mechanical testing.Knowledge of z-mapping & correction, planar, cylindrical and spherical alignmentKnowledge of assembly tools and mechanical assembly techniques.Advanced blueprint and schematic reading.Accurate record keeping skills.Knowledge of laser alignment methods – spinning/tracker.Base level system operation.Capable of solo or leading a team on system field installations and baseline testing.Forklift, aerial device/elevated platform and rigging certified.Ability to manually lift/move up to 45 pounds.This position will require domestic and international travel, approximately 25% of the timeDue to the nature of NSI-MI's programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.Desired Qualifications:Set-up, operation and MDI of CNC machineryCut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.MIG and TIG Welding capabilities.Set-up and operation of metalworking equipment such as milling, drilling, turning and grinding machinery to shape or fabricate parts.Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering background desirable.What's in It for You:Competitive compensation, holiday pay, and paid time offGreat benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental insurance401(k), plus matchingFlexible spending accounts (FSAs), health savings account (HSA) with AMETEK contribution, life insurance, disability insurance, and family medical leaveEmployee referral programTuition reimbursement programEmployee assistance programExciting, fast-paced environment where you could make a true impactOpportunities for career advancement within our business unit and across all other AMETEK business entitiesLocation: This position is located in Torrance, California.
