Cronus Power Systems is seeking a dependable generator service technician to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on residential, commercial and industrial standby power systems.

This position is intended for someone with 5+ years of previous standby generator experience. The ideal candidate does not need to be an expert in every generator brand but should have a solid mechanical and electrical foundation and be capable of diagnosing common equipment problems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on residential, commercial, and industrial standby generator equipment
• Service diesel, natural gas, and propane-fueled engines
• Change engine oil, filters, engine block heaters, coolant, belts, hoses, spark plugs, and starting batteries
• Inspect starting, charging, cooling, fuel, ignition, intake, and exhaust systems
• Test battery chargers, block heaters, jacket-water heaters, and related accessories
• Inspect and test automatic transfer switches
• Perform manual and automatic transfer tests
• Measure and document AC voltage, frequency, current, battery voltage, charging voltage, fluid levels, and operating conditions
• Troubleshoot generator starting, shutdown, voltage, frequency, fuel, cooling, battery, charging, and transfer-related problems
• Diagnose common generator controller alarms and shutdown conditions
• Perform minor and moderate mechanical and electrical repairs in the field
• Assist with load-bank testing and major repairs
• Read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and manufacturer documentation
• Complete detailed service reports and document equipment deficiencies
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations professionally
• Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, parts, and supplies
• Travel to customer locations throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and northeastern Maryland

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience servicing generators, engines, electrical equipment, or comparable commercial or industrial equipment
• Basic troubleshooting and repair experience
• Working knowledge of diesel or spark-ignited engines
• Understanding of 12-volt and 24-volt DC starting and charging systems
• Ability to safely use a digital multimeter and other diagnostic equipment
• Ability to understand basic AC electrical systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical service information
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
• Dependable attendance and professional customer-service skills
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and wet conditions
• Ability to lift and carry at least 75 pounds
• Ability to work while standing, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working in confined equipment areas

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Generac, Kohler, Cummins, Caterpillar, MTU, Briggs & Stratton, or similar generator equipment
• Experience servicing liquid-cooled diesel and gaseous-fueled generators
• Experience working with automatic transfer switches
• Familiarity with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
• Experience with generator controllers and electronic diagnostic software
• Experience performing fuel-pressure, compression, cooling-system, and electrical testing
• Generator manufacturer training or certifications
• Commercial driver or field-service experience
• Experience with digital service reports or field-service management software

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• Typical hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
• Occasional overtime, early starts, or after-hours emergency work may be required
• Daily travel from the Oxford, Pennsylvania area to customer locations
