Job Description
Job Title: Seasonal Speech Language Pathologist
Profession: Speech Language Pathologist

Hours per Shift: 8 hours
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of full-time acute care specific experience to include adult dysphagia/modified barium swallows, or 2 years of skilled nursing/inpatient rehab facility experience to include adult dysphagia/modified barium swallows.
License: Licensed to practice Speech Therapy in the State of Mississippi
Certifications: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must-Have: Competency in modified barium swallow studies


Description:
The Seasonal Speech Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing a full range of speech-language pathology services.
This includes assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment.
The incumbent shall demonstrate accountability for program development, quality improvement, and productivity enhancement.
The role requires knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
The incumbent must also demonstrate an understanding of the principles of growth and development.
The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information is essential.
The Speech Language Pathologist must utilize critical thinking in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
Documentation in the Electronic Medical Record must be compliant, secure, and timely.
An understanding of anatomy and physiology impacting vocal, auditory, memory, and swallow skills is required.
The Speech Language Pathologist will identify learning needs of patients and family members appropriately.
Assisting patients and families along the continuum of care is a key responsibility.
Conducting patient evaluations using functional tests and measures is essential.
The incumbent must determine functional deficits and construct appropriate goals.
Establishing appropriate frequency and duration based on therapy diagnosis and plan of care is necessary.
Tolerating physically demanding tasks, including moving patients and equipment, while maintaining safety is essential.
Patient evaluation and treatment must be conducted within the scope of practice.
The ability to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds is required.
