Job Overview

Specialty: Interventional Cardiology

Certification: Board Certified in Cardiology

Location: Jackson, MI

Reason for Opening: Departure of current physician

Start Date: January 2027 or as soon as credentialed, until a permanent hire is made

Availability: 1-2 weeks of coverage each month

Schedule & Coverage

• 4-5 shifts weekly
• 2-3 clinic shifts
• 2 cath lab shifts
• Coverage approximately 1-2 weeks per month, based on physician availability
• Comfortable providing both inpatient and outpatient care
• Weekday Call: About 1 night of call per weekday during coverage
• Weekend Call: 1 weekend on-call shift during coverage
• Call Ratio: Approximately 1:6
• Call Type: Beeper/phone call
• Average Callback: Roughly 2-4 hours, varying by weekday or weekend
• No general cardiology rounding duties; these are managed by the non-invasive cardiology team

Clinical Setting

• Practice Environment: Clinic and Inpatient/Hospital-Based
• Patient Demographic: Adults aged 18 and older
• Patient Distribution: Approximately 60% inpatient and 40% outpatient
• Trauma Center Level: II
• Cath Lab Volume: About 4-6 procedures daily, including add-ons
• Clinic Volume: Approximately 18-20 patients daily, depending on new vs. established patients
• EMR System: EPIC for both inpatient and outpatient services

Procedures & Skills

The following skills are preferred:

• Cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography
• Balloon angioplasty
• Treatment of pulmonary embolisms
• PCI with IVUS
• Stent implantation
• Atherectomy
• Valvuloplasty
• Left main PCI
• Bifurcation stenting
• Mechanical circulatory support, including:
• IABP
• Impella
• ECMO

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist in training efforts for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within the Interventional Cardiology specialty
• Provide both inpatient and outpatient clinical coverage
• Engage in assigned weekday and weekend call duties
