Required Qualifications US Citizen with ability to obtain a government security clearance. Education: Only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be credited. Foreign Education: If using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign education programs and have been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Licensure: Possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted professional license/registration to practice Dentistry. Also possess and maintain a current and valid DEA license. Malpractice Insurance: Must possess and maintain malpractice insurance. Privileges: Must apply for and have approved dental privileges at the WEHC. Certificates: Must possess and maintain a basic life support (BLS) certificate. Experience: Have practiced clinically 12 months within the past 3 years. Continuing Education: Must possess documentation of continuing dental education. Immunizations: Contractor shall provide evidence of the following immunizations: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) – Individuals born on or after 1957 can be considered immune and shall provide documentation of physician-diagnosed measles, laboratory evidence, or two doses of live measles vaccine. Individuals born prior to 1957 do not need to be considered susceptible; measles vaccine or proof of immunity is not required. Individuals allergic to a component of vaccine and/or have a history of severe reaction to vaccine will not be required to receive that vaccine. Hepatitis B. Tdap – Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis or current Td booster. Polio. Annual TB test results as negative. Flu – seasonal influenza. Scheduling Details Shift Information: 10‑hour shifts: Open – 0700–1730 2nd shift – 0730–1800 Close – 0830–1900 Fields – 0800–1630 8‑hour shifts: Open – 0700–1530 2nd shift – 0800–1630 Close – 1030–1900 Fields – 0800–1630 Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Interview and collection of pertinent health data from patient. Review past medical history. Evaluation/assessment of patient condition and documentation in a legible manner. Institution of patient treatment plans. Assurance of necessary patient follow‑up. Conduct case conference with IHS staff, patient, and/or guardian as necessary. Follow IHS guidelines for Patient Referred Care (PRC). Conduct patient care in assigned duty area. Diagnostic/examination, screening, initial and periodic. Prophylaxis, including hand scaling, use of ultrasonic instruments. Emergency care diagnosis and treatment. Treatment of oral infections. Preventative services – sealants, fluoride, oral hygiene instruction. Restorative – simple and complex. Endodontic – anterior and posterior. Periodontal diagnosis, treatment, surgery and chemical treatments. Oral surgery – simple and surgical extractions of erupted teeth, partial impactions, soft tissue and biopsy. Pediatric dentistry – pulpotomies, pulpectomies, stainless steel crowns. Crown and bridge – single and multiple units. Removable prosthetics. Radiographic interpretation – periapical, bitewing, panorex, occlusal, extraoral soft tissue. Adjunctive general services (e.g., x‑rays, fluoride treatments, etc.). Charting in patient dental/medical record – health history, exam, dental progress, referrals. Limited dental laboratory procedures. Limited oral medication to treat dental anxiety. Prescribe medication as necessary. Knowledge and perform services using infection control practices in accordance with accreditation standards, IHS policy and procedures, OSHA, and other regulating agencies and laws. Ability to speak with sufficient clarity, interpret, read, and write in English. Ability to work independently. Provide services in a professional and respectful manner when dealing with patients and colleagues. Respect and maintain the basic rights of patients including personal dignity. The contract provider shall provide continuous service without interruption for the term of the contract, unless interruption of service is approved in advance by the Contracting Officer. Should not collect patient data for personal research or case study activities. Should not remove PHI/PII electronically to personal email or server accounts for any reason. Should complete all agency required training such as Information Technology Security, Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse in Health Care Settings, HIPAA/HIM. Should follow and remain in full compliance with the agency bylaws, policy, procure, regulation, laws, and accrediting organizations which govern the performance of daily operations.
