Auria is looking to hire a Systems Engineer to support the TASD program. This role is ONSITE on Schriever in Colorado Springs, CO.Threat Systems Engineering (TSE) is responsible for the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). TSE is responsible for the development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) used to simulate element models of MDA’s BMDS, including kinematic missile modeling, IR signature modeling, data production/analysis activities, and maintenance/sustainment activities for the entire TSE software baseline. TSE is a cornerstone element to the Threat and Advanced Simulations Development (TASD) contract.The Systems Engineer/Mission Support Threat Engineer role serves as a missile threats specialist, threats model requirements developer, and a verifier and validator of threat representations across the kinematic, RF, and IR signatures domains. This Systems Engineering specialized position will be responsible for capturing and documenting requirements as they pertain to the development of Missiles’ kinematic, RF, and IR signatures models.
The Systems Engineer/Mission Support Threat Engineer will be involved in direct discussions and collaborations with our customers, threat stakeholders, intelligence analysts, and fellow engineers to best capture the requirements for developing and delivering accurate and relevant threat models. Will work with little to no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time-critical delivery schedules. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:Gain experience with threat model phenomenology with focus on components of missile systems trajectories and signatures.Research into RCS and IR signature model development requirements.Understand stakeholders’ requirements and ensure quality production of deliverables.Actively work with the team to ensure automation and tools improvements are coordinated – aiming to attain utmost efficiency and meet Leadership objectives.Work on defined schedule to timely support MDA Ground Test Modeling and Simulation events.Work in close coordination with Missile Modeling Engineers and Production Engineers to ensure model requirements are met and Verification and Validation (V&V) confirms models’ accuracy and reliability.WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 0–2 years of related work experienceExperience with Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE); ideally with CAMEO or similar tool experienceFamiliarity with the systems engineering process, including the Systems Engineering “V”Experience with requirements traceabilityModeling, simulation, and automation experienceFamiliarity with flight characteristics, motion, and performance of missile systemsFamiliarity in the domain of RCS and IR signature modeling practicesFamiliarity with hard body heating of objects and their corresponding signatures representationMust be self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic team environmentAbility and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needsMust have a current, active, in-scope DoD Secret Clearance at the time of application, which is required to start; with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with access to SCIWHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:Strong CAMEO or similar tool experienceStrong systems engineering backgroundStrong background with missile system models, atmospheric dynamics, and performanceMastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory analysis, counter measures, debris, and signature modelingFamiliarity with Optical Signatures Code (OSC)Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and performance of missilesPractical experience with MBSE theory and toolsExperience in Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum and KanbanA current, active, in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI (TS/SCI)PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $80,000 - $90,0000APPLICATION DEADLINE: Aug 10, 2026THE AURIA TEAM:Auria is a provider of solutions and software in support of complex Space, National Security, and Cyber missions of federal, international, and commercial customers.
