Cabin Counselor

Overview Are you ready for the best summer of your life? Camp Paivika, in the San Bernardino National Forest, offers a cabin-based summer program working with campers and co-workers. As a Cabin Counselor you will work with a co-counselor to provide guidance, care and support to a group of campers with various physical and/or developmental disabilities. Campers range in age from children through adults and may have mild to profound disabilities. During 5-night sessions you will live in the same cabin with campers and assist with daily personal care while accompanying them to camp activities adapted to each camper’s ability level. Typical activities include swimming, adaptive sports, crafts, nature studies, performing arts, talent shows and campfires. Responsibilities Live in the same cabin with campers during 5-night sessions and assist with daily personal care. Accompany campers to camp activities adapted to their individual ability levels. Support campers in activities such as swimming, adaptive sports, crafts, nature studies, performing arts, talent shows and campfires. Qualifications 18 years of age or older. Must pass LiveScan background check, pre-employment physical examination, and drug screen. Vaccinations encouraged due to communal living arrangements. Must be able to reside on site when camp is in session. Must be able to lift 75 lbs and perform physically rigorous daily care tasks for individuals with disabilities.
