Job Description:

Position summary

The Quality Control Technician performs routine laboratory testing of manufacturing and environmental samples in support of Quality Control. The role focuses on hands-on bacteriology and immunology testing, accurate documentation, and adherence to aseptic technique, cGMP requirements, safety practices, and site procedures.

This is a technician-level contractor position focused on following established procedures and completing routine laboratory activities. Training will be provided on site-specific methods, systems, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine bacteriology and immunology assays on manufacturing and related laboratory samples according to approved procedures.
• Handle microbiology cultures and samples using appropriate aseptic technique and contamination-control practices.
• Perform pipetting, serial dilutions, sample preparation, and other routine laboratory techniques accurately and consistently.
• Prepare media, reagents, and other materials needed for testing.
• Conduct media fill inspections and equipment monitoring activities as assigned.
• Maintain testing schedules and monitor reagent and material supplies.
• Complete laboratory records and other documentation accurately and on time in accordance with cGMP requirements.
• Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, work areas, and facilities according to site procedures.
• Follow Client Quality Standards, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Provide factual information and basic support for laboratory investigations, with escalation to qualified personnel when needed.
• Learn and use applicable QC software and site systems, including zLIMS and SAP, after training.
• Support routine laboratory activities and other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.

Required qualifications and skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant laboratory coursework, an associate degree in biology, microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related science, or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience is preferred.
• Basic understanding of aseptic technique and contamination control.
• Ability to perform accurate pipetting and serial dilutions.
• Familiarity with microbiology culture handling, media preparation, or routine laboratory testing is preferred.
• Ability to follow written procedures and complete detailed documentation accurately.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn laboratory and business systems.
• Ability to work safely in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Preferred experience

• Previous experience in a quality control, microbiology, bacteriology, immunology, pharmaceutical, animal health, food, or other regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience with cGMP documentation or laboratory information systems.
• Experience with immunology assays or microbiological testing methods.

Scope and level

• This role performs routine testing and laboratory support activities using established procedures. It does not require independent method development, advanced data analysis, extensive project leadership, or ownership of complex investigations.
