Outpatient Surgery Coder

Description The Coding Specialist - Outpatient Surgery Coder is responsible for accurately assigning and sequencing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient surgery, observation, and ancillary encounters. This individual will work within Epic work queues, reviewing operative reports and clinical documentation to ensure compliant and accurate facility coding. Responsibilities Coding ambulatory surgery and observation encounters Reviewing operative reports and assigning appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes Abstracting clinical and demographic data into hospital systems Ensuring coding compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and AHIMA/AAPC standards Selecting APC assignments and validating claim readiness Collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to obtain clarification when needed Supporting emergency department and outpatient diagnostics coding as volume dictates Maintaining departmental productivity and quality standards Skills outpatient coding, EPIC, Facility Coding, Certified Coder Top Skills Details outpatient coding,EPIC,Facility Coding,Certified Coder Additional Skills & Qualifications Required Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC approved coding program 4-5 years of recent hospital-based outpatient coding experience Facility coding experience Certified coder credential Acute care hospital experience Preferred Epic experience Emergency Department coding experience Outpatient diagnostics coding experience Experience cross-covering multiple outpatient work queues Broad procedural coding experience across multiple specialties Experience Level Expert Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
