Senior Java / AI Engineer
Location: Lake Mary, FL

We are seeking a Senior Java / AI Engineer to join an Enterprise Data & Solutions Engineering team focused on building and evolving scalable, high-performance enterprise applications with integrated AI capabilities. This role is ideal for a seasoned backend engineer who combines deep expertise in Java and Spring-based architectures with hands-on experience in modern AI-assisted development and intelligent system design.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade platforms that support mission-critical business functions. You will also play a key role in introducing AI-driven capabilities into existing systems and shaping how AI is applied across software engineering workflows.
You will collaborate closely with product, architecture, infrastructure, data, and security teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Microservices architecture
• Build and support RESTful APIs and backend services for high-volume systems
• Participate in architectural design decisions, code reviews, and performance optimization efforts
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
• Implement AI-enabled application capabilities, including LLM integrations, prompt engineering, AI agent workflows, RAG patterns, embeddings, and vector search
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, or similar technologies as a core part of daily development
• Support CI/CD pipeline development, automated testing, and deployment processes
• Perform database design and optimization, including SQL tuning, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and transaction management (Oracle and other RDBMS platforms)
• Work on performance tuning across application, database, and infrastructure layers
• Contribute to Spring Batch and enterprise scheduling/batch processing solutions
• Engage in architecture reviews, production readiness assessments, and operational support initiatives
• Collaborate across DevOps, infrastructure, security, and data teams in an Agile environment

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Java (Java 17+) development
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Microservices, and REST APIs
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and enterprise design patterns
• Experience with Spring Batch and enterprise-level batch processing systems
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with Oracle databases (Sybase and DB2 preferred)
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and stored procedures
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, or similar)
• Strong understanding of AI/LLM concepts including prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and AI agent workflows
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering AI-enabled enterprise solutions
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with observability and production monitoring tools
• Familiarity with job scheduling and workflow tools such as Control-M, AutoSys, or Airflow
• Experience with Angular (Angular 18+) for supporting UI development, with backend as the primary focus
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and high-volume application architectures
• Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make sound architectural decisions in complex environments
