Job Description

The Material Handler supports a fast-paced manufacturing operation by ensuring materials, inventory, and production resources are available to meet daily production requirements. This role focuses on inventory control, cycle counting, kitting, receiving, stocking, packaging, and quality inspections while closely supporting production teams and maintaining an organized, efficient workspace.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records to support production and inventory accuracy.
• Kit and stage materials for production work orders, ensuring all required components are available to meet manufacturing schedules.
• Receive, inspect, verify, and organize incoming materials, including checking part numbers, revisions, quantities, and supporting documentation.
• Stock and arrange materials in designated locations to ensure efficient material flow and easy access for production teams.
• Follow work order travelers and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) to maintain accurate and compliant records in a quality-driven environment.
• Conduct quality inspections on components and finished products, identify non-conformances, and escalate quality issues as needed.
• Package components and finished goods in accordance with established procedures to protect delicate and high-value products.
• Support production teams by monitoring material availability and proactively addressing material shortages or delays.
• Utilize hand tools, barcode scanners, computers, and manufacturing equipment to perform daily material handling tasks.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to manage inventory transactions, work orders, and material movements.
• Apply 5S and Kanban principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area and material flow.
• Identify and escalate inventory, quality, and safety issues to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by using 5S, Kanban, and other methodologies to enhance processes and workspace organization.
• Follow written work instructions and procedures precisely to maintain consistency, quality, and compliance.
• Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, and other team members to coordinate material movement and resolve issues.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, working in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and kitting to support production operations.
• Experience utilizing 5S, Kanban, and continuous improvement methodologies to maintain efficient and organized work areas.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage inventory and work orders.
• Experience using barcode scanners and hand tools in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to follow written work instructions, work order travelers, and procedures accurately.
• Ability to identify and escalate quality, inventory, and safety issues in a timely manner.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially when handling delicate and expensive products.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with production and warehouse teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in material handling within a manufacturing environment, supporting production operations, material movement, and inventory management.
• 3+ years of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, and maintaining inventory accuracy, including resolving inventory discrepancies.
• 3+ years of experience kitting work orders and staging materials for production to meet manufacturing schedules.
• 3+ years of experience receiving, inspecting, stocking, and organizing materials, including verification of part numbers, quantities, and documentation.
• 3+ years of experience following work order travelers, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and manufacturing procedures in a quality-driven environment.
• 3+ years of experience performing quality inspections, packaging finished goods, and utilizing barcode scanners, hand tools, and computer systems in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience in technology, electronics, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
• Working knowledge of 5S and Kanban systems to support lean and efficient operations.
• Familiarity with work order travelers and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement activities in a warehouse or production environment.

Work Environment

This role is based on a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering predictable daytime hours. The position is located on a fairly large campus, with daily work performed in a smaller warehouse environment that supports manufacturing operations. The warehouse handles delicate and expensive products, requiring a high level of care, accuracy, and attention to detail in all material handling tasks. The work environment emphasizes 5S, Kanban, and continuous improvement practices to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. Employees regularly use barcode scanners, hand tools, computer systems, and ERP/MRP software while working closely with production teams in a fast-paced setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alameda, CA.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
