CUSTODIAN-PINEVIEW HEAD START CENTER

Responsibilities Perform cleaning tasks (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, empty trash, and clean classrooms, restrooms, lobby, hallway, stairwells, dining area, and floors) according to the cleaning schedule. Check and maintain supplies in restrooms. Organize and maintain janitorial supplies required in buildings. Maintain clean outside walkways, driveways, yards, and floors (waxing and sanding on a scheduled basis). Help staff set up for meetings, move tables, chairs, and equipment. Assist in minor repairs of buildings and contact vendors for repairs. Pick up and deliver supplies, mail, and other items. During inclement weather, keep building and outside areas safe. Report to management all pilferage, damage to buildings and goods, safety violations, and need for major repairs or additions. Summer Tasks Perform deep cleaning of the Head Start Center during the summer break as outlined in the Custodial Summer Task List. Ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance during summer with supervisory review by the Center Coordinator. Perform related work such as painting or minor repair as assigned. Equipment and Machines Variety of cleaning equipment. Working Conditions Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Additional Comments Requires understanding and carrying out of oral and written directions, cleaning and caring for assigned areas and equipment, setting work priorities, working independently in the absence of supervision, and establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in reading cleaning supplies labels and instructions. Combination of education and experience commensurate with the job description. Minimum one year experience in janitorial activities. Valid South Carolina Driver’s License required. Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
