Registered Nurse -Intermediate (UTHP Pedi Admin Gateway)

Job Summary Provides direct nursing care to patients in a healthcare facility. Responsible for preparing equipment and aiding physician during treatment and examination of patients. Responsibilities Demonstrates advanced skills in the delivery of physical examinations of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing physician interpretations of results, consulting with physicians and implementing treatment plans; administers medications and injections as needed. Ensures the clinic flow runs smoothly; works closely with assigned scheduler to ensure referrals, follow‑up appointments, and diagnostic tests are scheduled accordingly. Triages patient calls and works closely with call‑center team members. Follows‑up on diagnostic tests, labs and ensures they are reported to the medical provider. Refers patients as needed to appropriate specialists as ordered by physician, consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team, schedules follow‑up appointments, weekly check appointments, and procedure appointments. Educates patients and family members. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Supports the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions. Communicates effectively, written and verbally. Analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Meets all training and competency requirements. Education Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. Experience Three (3) years of professional nursing experience is required. Licenses and Certifications Current Texas RN license required; CPR required. This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO‑GA‑48. Time Off Front‑loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
