Systems Administrator

Job Responsibilities:

• Specify, design, implement, and test network and computer system configurations and upgrades in consultation with staff
• Develop, coordinate, and implement network security plans and measures in accordance with government and laboratory policies
• Identify system performance issues and assess user needs to recommend specific changes and upgrades
• Perform data backups and recoveries
• Assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks
• Research and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements
• Order hardware and software products
• Renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service  Interact with vendors, security personnel, laboratory staff, and other system administrators to coordinate procurements, installations, upgrades, and services

• Must Have:
• Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
• 5+ years of Systems Administration experience
• 3+ years of experience in:
• – Linux environments
• – Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
• – Troubleshooting network issues
• – Scripting and task automation
• – Security plans (RMF), procedures, and compliance with DoD Directive 8140
• – System documentation
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to create technical and end-user documentation
• Preferred:
• Experience working in mission-critical environments
• Experience with enterprise hardware and software applications such as:
• – VMware ESX
• – Cisco/Juniper networking equipment
• – NetApp
• –       
• – Ansible
• Working knowledge of programming languages including:
• – Perl
• – Python
• – C/C++
• Experience supporting secure and highly available environments

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree — Required
