Registered Nurse - Chs Nursing Services - Pt Nights

The Registered Nurse is a professional who assumes responsibility for providing and supervising the delivery of quality patient care within the framework of Anderson Healthcare. The RN uses initiative, independent judgment, and professional skills in utilizing the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care rendered. The RN is responsible for their own actions and competencies. The RN will apply the Nursing Process while incorporating instruction, teaching, and discharge planning into the care of each patient. The RN fosters the mission statement and initiatives of Anderson Healthcare and Community Hospital Staunton by demonstrating compassion, competence, collaboration, and creativity.

Essential duties and responsibilities include explaining procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, administering prescribed medications and treatments, preparing equipment and assisting providers during treatment and examination of patients, initiating and managing a Code C situation, interpreting EKG recordings, recognizing, assisting, maintaining, and troubleshooting a patient requiring ventilatory measures, maintaining valid ACLS certification, maintaining awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients and visitors, observing patient and documenting change in condition, adverse reactions, and any required reportable incidents, taking patient's temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs, responding to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, accurately documenting nursing history and physical assessment, initiating a patient education plan, demonstrating knowledge and principles of performance improvement plan, providing care in the Pain Management environment, demonstrating professionalism regarding dress code and personal hygiene, complying with established hospital policies, performing job within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics and Compliance program, and maintaining confidentiality according to the hospital information security policies and confidentiality statement.

Qualifications include a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, active Illinois license, ACLS, and BLS. Must have sound knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, familiarity with organization, functions, polices, regulations, and procedures of the nursing service department and Anderson Healthcare. Good oral/written communication, critical thinking, and time management are necessary. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the different age groups of those served in the nursing department.
