Accountant

The Role:

The Accountant provides the management team with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, preparing financial statements, maintaining tax registrations, filing sales/use/excise tax returns timely, and Inventory reconciliations so Fraga USA can be as competitive as possible in the growing steel industry.

Key Deliverables:

• Provide financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
• Maintain documents for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.
• Develop accounting procedures by reviewing new procedures.
• Provide support for all A/R & A/P functions.
• Research and interpret data to resolve accounting and financial questions.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

• Maintains and balances an ERP (SAP BusinessOne) system by inputting data;
  scheduling required jobs;
  verifying data.
• Prepares payments by accruing expenses;
  assigning account numbers;
  requesting disbursements;
  reconciling accounts.
• Prepares business and financial reports showing the various categories of new orders. Also prepares reports showing orders, invoices, shipments, and ending backlog. Accountant will find and review processes amongst discrepancies between SAP and Excel reports.
• Prepares and files all sales/use/excise tax returns within required state deadlines.
• Answer’s accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
• Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and from all departments.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
• Provides support for all A/R & A/P functions as needed.
• Assume other special activities and responsibilities as directed

NOTE: This position is responsible for certain internal controls. Changes to these internal control responsibilities are communicated to the incumbent periodically. Feedback is provided as it relates to the performance of these controls and how they apply to the business operation.

Experience and competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S) from an accredited University or College
• (3) to (7) years of accounting experience. An equivalent of relevant education and experience may be considered.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger transaction recording and reconciliation
• Detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated
• Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks at once
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel heavy), and accounting software
