Job Title Community Health Organizer (Amarillo, Tyler, San Angelo, Austin, Texas) Location Austin, Texas (other open positions available in Amarillo, Tyler, San Angelo) Overview As a Community Health Organizer, you will serve as the primary liaison between schools, community partners, and the Texas A&M Opioid Prevention for K-12 Students (TOPS) program. Your role will focus on program coordination, stakeholder engagement, community training, and administrative support to advance opioid prevention efforts across multiple counties. Responsibilities Serve as liaison between community and school decision‑makers to build capacity and support TOPS program success. Coordinate cultivation and engagement events with high schools, middle schools, and community key decision‑makers, including scheduling, room set‑up, technical support, and catering. Engage school and community leaders to plan, develop, and implement opioid prevention awareness and education programs. Mobilize and engage decision‑makers in the delivery of TOPS project activities and continue to build a network of community resources. Collaborate with the Area Team on logistical support for community events and ensure seamless transition from inception to post‑event activities. Provide culturally appropriate support and information on opioid prevention awareness and education. Attend routine TOPS program meetings and required training sessions. Assist in establishing short‑ and long‑term goals and strategic planning, working with the Area Team. Conduct site visits across area counties to monitor TOPS activities and provide ongoing support to community and school partners. Assist with data collection for opioid prevention awareness programs, complete training to perform these duties, and collaborate on monthly reporting. Maintain activity logs and routine reporting of all program activities to monitor progress toward achieving program milestones. Oversee daily fiscal and purchasing activities, maintain transparency in reporting, and ensure compliance with project deliverables. Collect and track progress on youth opioid prevention education and service program activities, demonstrating annual outreach growth. Support schools to access TOPS resources and services for at‑risk students, including parent awareness activities. Deliver community opioid prevention awareness campaigns, specifically targeting fentanyl, in designated Texas locations. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in public, community or external relations, event planning, or related field. Four years of experience in public/community/external relations, event planning, or related experience; or a Master’s degree in public health, health, or a related field. Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or Community Health Worker Instructor (CHWI) preferred. Experience providing CHW training sessions and curriculum training. Fluency in English and Spanish (written and oral). Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills; ability to work cooperatively with others. Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality. Additional Requirements Ability to travel independently to other or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines; up to 50% of time may involve travel. Position is security‑sensitive with required compliance to State and Federal laws and Texas A&M University System policies. May require work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends. Position funded by grant/contract; employment contingent on continuation of funding and satisfactory performance, including completion of grant deliverables.
