Sales Director - Northern California / Pacific Northwest

We’re looking for a seasoned, connected, and highly motivated sales leader to drive revenue across Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and select markets in the Rockies.

This person should bring a strong background in media sales and/or the agency world, along with an established network of senior brand and agency relationships across categories that naturally intersect with Outside — including Technology, Fitness Tech, Health & Wellness, Footwear, Active/Casual Apparel, Outdoor, and Travel.

This is a senior-level sales role for someone who knows the market, brings strong relationships, and knows how to turn those relationships into meaningful revenue. We’re looking for someone who can quickly identify where the opportunity is, open new doors, and build strategic, long-term partnerships across the territory.

What You’ll Do

• Own and grow revenue across Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and select Rockies accounts, with a strong focus on developing new business and expanding high-potential relationships.
• Leverage an established network across brands and agencies to create opportunities within Tech, Fitness Tech, Health & Fitness, Footwear, Active/Casual Apparel, Outdoor, Travel, and adjacent categories.
• Build a focused, strategic pipeline — identifying the accounts with the greatest potential and developing thoughtful plans to convert them into meaningful long-term partners.
• Prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close business across Outside’s full ecosystem, including digital media, video, OTT/CTV, branded content, social, data and audience solutions, sponsorships, events, and experiential opportunities.
• Develop senior-level relationships with marketers, agency leaders, and decision-makers, positioning Outside as a strategic partner rather than simply a media vendor.
• Translate client business challenges into smart, integrated solutions that leverage the breadth of Outside’s brands, audiences, platforms, and first-party data.
• Grow existing partnerships by identifying new budgets, brands, business units, and opportunities across client organizations.
• Manage pipeline and forecasting rigorously through Salesforce, maintaining clear visibility into opportunities, next steps, and revenue expectations.
• Represent Outside in-market through client meetings, agency relationships, industry events, and networking.
• Partner closely with strategy, marketing, creative, editorial, and internal leadership to develop compelling programs and bring market intelligence and client needs back into the organization.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in media sales, advertising, agency partnerships, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated record of driving meaningful revenue.
• A strong existing network of brand and agency relationships across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, particularly within Tech, Fitness Tech, Health & Fitness, Footwear, Active/Casual Apparel, Outdoor, and Travel.
• A proven ability to open doors and generate new business, not simply manage an inherited book of accounts.
• A deep understanding of the Northern California and Pacific Northwest advertising landscape, including key agencies, brands, and decision-makers.
• Strong knowledge of the modern media ecosystem, including digital, video, OTT/CTV, branded content, social, programmatic, data, and experiential.
• A consultative, strategic approach to selling — someone who can understand a client’s business and build solutions around their objectives.
• The ability to confidently present, persuade, and build credibility at every level, from agency teams and brand managers to senior marketing executives and CMOs.
• Strong pipeline discipline and experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM to manage opportunities and forecast accurately.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. You’re comfortable building a territory, prioritizing where to spend your time, and creating opportunities rather than waiting for RFPs to arrive.
• A genuine interest in the outdoor, active lifestyle, fitness, and wellness space and an understanding of the consumers and communities Outside serves.

What We Offer:

Entirely remote job that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $130,000 to $150,000. Additional compensation will include commission. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
