Diesel Truck Technician

Responsibilities for Diesel Technicians Diesel Technicians perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with factory standards. Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs on diesel trucks or equipment. Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer. Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended. Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician. Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events. Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins. Supervise the work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned. Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor. Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean and notify the service advisor immediately of any changes in appearance or condition. Keep the shop area neat and clean for your safety and the safety of other diesel technicians. Maintain and be accountable for all facility tools and manuals; return them to the proper place and in the same condition as received. Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Report any safety issues immediately to management. Requirements High school diploma preferred or completion of vocational/technical school. Basic mechanical aptitude with experience preferred but not required. Valid driver license with the ability to obtain a CDL license. Must have the base required tools or obtain them within 30 days. Major tooling provided in house.
