This position involves operating or overseeing radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic images. The Radiological Technologist is responsible for maintaining patient care and safety, practicing ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). Major Responsibilities: Follow all Quality Control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, and review images for diagnostic quality. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety for patients and staff. Explain procedures to patients, observe patient safety and comfort, and seek interpreter services if needed. Prepare and administer contrast media as required. Position and immobilize patients, ensuring quality images while following sterile techniques. Operate imaging equipment, adjusting controls to set appropriate exposure parameters. Monitor patient conditions and reactions, reporting abnormalities. Record and maintain patient data and send to PACS. Collaborate with medical team and administrative staff, including students. Standard Staffing Responsibilities: Adhere to departmental policies and objectives. Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required. Use Quality Improvement practices daily. Follow health and safety regulations. Respect diverse views, demonstrate professionalism, and foster an environment of tolerance and civility. Maintain reliable and predictable attendance. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Graduate of an accredited radiological technology program. Registered by ARRT or eligible, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health; maintain licensure annually. CPR certification. Experience/Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Knowledgeable in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, and patient care. Ability to communicate clearly in English, explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort. Ability to follow procedures, policies, and regulations. Effective collaboration with medical staff, personnel, students, and patients. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Preferred: Prior experience as a Radiology Technologist. Equivalent education and experience may be considered where certification or licensure is not required. Department-specific competencies will be developed and maintained in individual departments. Addendum for Radiology Technologist, Bone Density Job Profile Summary: This role involves conducting bone density tests and related duties, ensuring accurate scans of skeletal areas. Major Responsibilities: Interview patients, explain procedures, and position them according to protocols. Assess patient needs, provide interventions for comfort and privacy. Perform imaging procedures per protocols. Analyze scans, compare with baseline, and determine need for additional imaging. Perform quality control and maintain equipment and data records.
