What you'll Do:

Position is responsible for the delivery of services in a classroom setting. Responsible for planning and implementing a child development and family support program primarily at the Early Head Start Center. Provide a nurturing and educational environment that meets the individual needs of infants and toddlers. Supervises the Infant-Toddler Caregiver and Early Childhood Aide. Partner and communicate with parents to assure client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide leadership and implementation of a center-based program option;
• Plan and implement an early education curriculum in a center-based classroom setting that places an emphasis on responsive care, care-giving routines and the caregiver-child relationship;
• Supervise the Infant-Toddler Caregiver and Early Childhood Aide, communicate clear expectations, provide encouragement, training and support, delegate responsibility appropriately, and address performance issues promptly;
• Work productively with team members to ensure strengths are utilized and work is completed;
• Act as primary caregiver to four infants or toddlers as assigned;
• Maintain files for up to eight children;
• Utilize required screening and child assessment tools and demonstrate ability to use this information for planning program activities that are outcome-based and purposeful;
• Conduct ongoing observation of children and plan the curriculum to be responsive and to support each child's individual pattern for development and learning;
• Plan and provide routines and experiences that advance physical and intellectual competence, support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance to children;
• Promote child and family literacy to include offering daily literacy and language experiences at the center;
• Provide a healthy and safe environment that encourages play, exploration and learning;
• Demonstrate basic safety and handling techniques (universal precautions), emergency procedures, and prevention of communicable and infectious diseases; and assume general responsibility for overall maintenance of the classroom;
• Monitor and educate parents with regard to children's health status, including medical follow up, physical health, dental health, mental health, and nutritional intake;
• Provide support services to families including resources, referrals and access to crisis intervention systems;
• Provide Early On service delivery and/or coordination for children with disabilities;
• Collaborate with families to establish child and family development goals, and document this collaborative process;
• Promote parent involvement in curriculum planning, program governance, and the overall program;
• Obtain and document in-kind through parent participation to reach program's nonfederal share target;
• Promote and support father involvement in the program;
• Communicate regularly with parents: person to person, written notes and reports, phone contact, newsletters, and web-based assessment tool;
• Act as a liaison and advocate between community resources and EHS families;
• Coordinate with Head Start programs or other preschools to facilitate a smooth transition for the child and family to a new program setting; begin the transition process 6 months prior to the child's third birthday;
• Maintain confidentiality and code of ethics at all times;
• Complete documentation for attendance, home visits / conferences, daily activity logs, and other relevant activities; submit records and reports in a timely and accurate manner;
• Develop technology skills and use software programs, as requested, for tracking child and family data and/or outcomes;
• Participate fully in reflective supervision and training activities for professional development. Complete additional certification as required.

What We'll Love About You:

Associates Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field with minimum of 1 year experience in childcare or early childhood setting, specifically with infants and/or toddlers. Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field is preferred.
