Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2+ years specialty experience and prior travel assignment history at a rural hospital setting.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room of a small rural hospital with a multi-disciplined staffing approach
• OR circulator responsible for OR surgery, C-sections, PACU, and Endoscopy coverage
• Average daily census of 10 with 4 operating rooms
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Float to other departments as needed during low census periods
• On-call required 1 day per week and every 4th to 5th weekend
• Must arrive within 30 minutes of call-out
• First week includes 2 days of buddy call for unit orientation
• Not a designated trauma facility, though occasional trauma cases may present through the ER

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA certifications required)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years of specialty experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Experience with gynecological, general surgical, pediatric general surgical, orthopedic, urological, and endoscopic procedures preferred
• Skills in blood/blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, and peripheral IV insertion
• Knowledge of infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and universal protocol (time out) procedures
• Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
• Driver's license and up-to-date NURSYS report (within 4 weeks) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform circulating RN duties across surgical specialties including gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics, and endoscopy
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended facility presence during emergency events
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Orientation held 5 days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RN references not accepted)
• RTO must be disclosed on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescission
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as travelers
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
